The ultimate outdoor location
Taking advantage of Melbourne's many magnificent parks has become a very popular trend for couples planning their marriage ceremony. Some thirty locations in and around the city give prospective couples many choices. Some locations have a good degree of privacy whilst being close to the inner city whilst other locations have historic merit. Others take advantage of the travel amenities and ambiance that the Yarra River has to offer.

Melbourne's long summers and mild autumns give couples almost seven months during the year in which to plan for that very important day and an outdoor celebration. Garden Weddings can be simple but stunning affairs, taking full advantage of beautiful gardens, colourful flowers and the ambience of the spectacular locations.

The Wedding Planners at the Event Hire Company are prepared to take you on a 90 minute tour of some of the most popular locations in and around Melbourne. Location include the Melbourne Maritime Museum with the historic ship the 'Pollywoodside',( a la Titanic )a most romantic location. Como House, the Ripponlea Estate, Kings Domain parkland, the Pioneer Women's Memorial Garden, the JFK memorial fountain as well as the gardens at Government House. The Event Team also know several sites available in private homes where extensive lawns and gardens can be hired for ceremonies as well as full sit-down weddings. What about your Wedding Ceremony on a luxury Boat, well, we have three from which to choose.

We are often asked what equipment is needed for a garden wedding?

Chairs are one of the most important elements. We recommend that you use our white Event chairs and allow for half of your guests to be seated at any one time.

The Event Chairs are attractive in appearance and have stable flat triangular feet that won't damage a grass or lawn surface. We can add white ribbons for that extra touch.

A red carpet walkway also looks very impressive, but a table for the signing of a marriage certificate is essential. We can provide you with one that's 70cms square and covered with a white damask tablecloth, skirted in white silk and matched with two covered white event chairs for the bride and groom. What about a Book table for guests to sign.

We also recommend the use of a mini platform, called Ceremonial Podium (20cm high) for the actual ceremony as this protects the Brides shoes. (It also makes it easier for the assembled crowd to watch the proceedings.) Could you imagine the beautiful sound of a String Quartet, their Classical music floating through the air.The mellow sound of a Harp, whafting through the trees, very sofisticated and oh so elegant. Our clssical Vocalist singing just one song, perhaps a dedication to a member of the Family. Our speech writer can assist you with two easy lessons to help portray those special words.

Is there anything else I might need?

What else might be needed for a wedding ceremony?

You may want to offer guests a glass of Spring Water or celebrate with sparkling Champagne or Chardonnay. If so, then a beverage bar is a very practical way of providing for your guests. Our beverage bar is usually 2.4 metres long and 90 cms high, clothed, skirted and with provision for cooling bins.

You may wish to consider using 3 metre white Event umbrellas. These are fantastic for providing shade on a hot day and can also double as protection against rain should that happen. Umbrellas can add a splash of style in a beautiful park setting.

Perhaps you want a Bridal Archway? These are very popular although they can be expensive depending on the decoration style you chose. Miniature roses and rich greenery also look spectacular but you will need a minimum of 200 roses to create any effect. Potted plants can really brighten up a location and are a good alternative.

A "Ball on a Stick", decorated with a large white ribbon is another great way of adding colour and style to your wedding. Consider also using white isle stands and ropes which can be another good way of adding that extra touch of formality and help directing your guests to their seats.

If you want to offer finger food the Event Catering Team can offer a wide range of menus, from nibbles to the most elaborate and tempting Fingerfood selections. Beveraging is also part of our catering option.A question we are often asked, where are the toilets? The Event Team supply portable toilets, yes magnificent toilets complete with running water, lights and soap thanks Portabletoilets.com.au
